Bernick inter Club championships Brittany 8th-9th Nov

Report-Yves Meinrad President of the Bernick Surf Club

Bernik Surf club of Saint Lunaire  held their first international competition this weekend

Clubs at the event were- Perros Guirec ( Seven Island Surf Club), Jersey (Jersey Surfboard Club) and of Saint Lunaire naturally (Bernik Surf Club who organized the event.

Enormous stroke of luck for this first day, the sun the wind and the swell conjugated to make  this weekend a memorable event and even after a departure  on Saturday morning of the rain there was an air of  cheerfulness.  Waves of 50 in 70cm that welcomed the competitors in the rain to pump to almost 1m20 in the slack of high tide under the sun.

Saturday saw the girls and ladies series (longboard and Surfing), juniors  and masters (+35ans) as well as the first tours(ballots) of surfing Open

With the girls, the lunairien honor is protected with  Hélène Bonutto's indisputable ascendancy (undefeated champion of Brittany 2007 on longboard) who dominated  the other competitors in her series followed by Lucy Goddard de Jersey and Anaïs Guilbert de Saint Lunaire.

On Sunday morning after an evening  in' The Thatched cottage' before(wakefulness), there were beautiful waves of 80cm / 1m which welcomed the competitors at 10 am in the morning for the final phases.

The Junior surfing  was dominated in a masterly fashion by the young people of Jersey who showed an incredible control(master's degree) of their discipline in consideration of their young age. It is thus quite logical there that Freddie Seymour takes it in front of Ben Bates Follow-up of Valentin Gravot du Bernik which had to dépoloyer all its talent to save the honor of the club in its category.

In Longboard Open, it is Clément Leray of Seven Island Surf Cluyb who takes it in front of Romain Boschel du Bernik Surf Club followed by André Le Geyts from Jersey Surfboard Club and Robin Henry of Seven Island Surf Club.

In bodyboard, Nicolas Miriel ( Bernik) wins in front of Theo Leclere ( Bernik) and Baptist Denoual ( Bernik).

In the Masters series ( 35 years) sees Yann Le Her's victory ( BSC) in front of David Ferguson, Mark Durbano and André Le Geyt all of Jersey.

Bernik Surf Club has trusté the podium of the surfing open with the victory of Mael Tessier in front of Yann Reux and Yann Le Her. The first surfer of Jersey is classified 4eme.

A regret however: the Jersey team were not able to stay as long as foreseen because Condor Ferries advanced  the departure of the boat from 5:30 pm till 1:00 pm on Sunday. They were not thus able to take advantage of magnificent conditions of the expression session of Sunday afternoon, won by Alan Tessier of Bernik in open surfing and David Zampeze of Seven Island longboard. No doubts that the members of Jersey Surfboard Club would have made strong impression in this event which gave free rein to the creativity in surfing and which encourages it. An expression session values the risk-takings on manoeuvers more risky than in a traditional series where we are going to privilege operations mastered on the fingertips.

Bernik Surf Club is anxious to thank all those who were able to return this possible weekend, workers of the shade(shadow) either partners: Earth Etik Dinan and St Malo, St Lunaire's city hall, Mistic surfboards to Pleurtuit, the discotheque The Thatched cottage to St Lunaire, Titine surfshop to Langueux, Silver Bay to St Brieuc, Surfrider Foudation antenna(office) 35, Carhartt and Corto Bello for the prizes(lots) of Sunday, Envao, Brittany Emerald and its logistic support, Roman Boschel and Nicolas Denolle, Cyrielle, Camille Louis, Alan and Mael Tessier, Yves Meinrad, Bruce Gain and David Ferguson, Thierry Deniel and all those who played a role closely or by far in this event.
